Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge camera update said to add RAW support

  1. Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will reportedly deliver more than just Google’s Android enhancements. According to two separate reports on Tuesday, the update will also deliver plenty of new camera features for Samsung’s smartphones.

That linesar reported Tuesday the update will also include support for capturing RAW images, which is a feature offered by the HTC One M9 and LG G4 that allows users to capture uncompressed files for better editing. Apparently Samsung was planning to offer this from the beginning, but decided to pull the feature before launch for unknown reasons. The same report suggested that Samsung will also offer additional manual controls.
That linesup with a separate story from SamMobile, which mentions a camera update inside of Android 5.1.1. SamMobile surmises Samsung may add in full support for the Google camera API in order to offer the aforementioned RAW support, which would also allow end-users to manually control shutter speed. The site said Samsung is currently planning to offer similar features on the Galaxy Note 5.
Unfortunately, neither site said when we can expect the added camera functions.
